Are New Cartridges Superior To Remanufactured Ones?

Remanufactured cartridges have parts that are replaced, if necessary, and that are better than the originals. These cartridges meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer cartridge requirements.

Horizontal Bands and/or White Streaks Are Forming, Is My Inkjet Cartridge Wearing Out?

If a jet (nozzle) in your cartridge has gone bad you will see horizontal bands and/or white streaks in your print. Print characteristics may appear incomplete and/or the filled in areas on may not show up.

1) Run some warm water over the print head. This can wash away any ink which might have dried in the cartridge print head. Dry the cartridge with a lint-free cloth before placing back into the printer.

2) Clean the contacts on the cartridge (the copper colored circuitry) and the contacts where the cartridge clips into the printer with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert and remove the cartridge from the printer a few times to be sure you have a good connection between contacts on the cartridge and the printer.

3) If your print is smeared cleaning the wiper blade may fix the problem. Do this according to your printer manual instructions.

3) In the window that opens, find your printer

I have a Hewlett-Packard or Lexmark printer. It doesn’t print or the color is strange. What can I do now?

If no printing occurs, or strange colors develop when you try to print, use an alcohol swab to clean the printhead and contacts on the cartridge and printer. If this does not fix the problem use the cleaning software on the computer, run it 3 to 6 times.

My color inkjet cartridge is missing a color, prints very faintly, or is making streaks. What do I do now?

During transportation, cartridges have the tendency to be lying on one side. Occasionally when this happens colors can mix or the print heads will dry out. This can happen with both new and remanufactured cartridges. In order to attempt to get the cartridge working, you can try to print out 6 to 10 color pages. This sometimes causes the dried out colors to start working again. If this doesn’t work, follow the steps listed below:

1) Remove the cartridge from the printer.

2) Place 2 paper towels on top of each other. Fold the paper towels in half twice, creating a thick square.

3) Slightly dampen one side of the paper towel, keeping the other side dry.

4) Dab the cartridge, with the print head down, onto the wet side of the paper towel, using a small amount of force.

5) Dab the cartridge, with the print head down, onto the dry side of the paper towel.

6) Repeat steps 4 and 5, five or six times.

7) If you have a 3-color cartridge, you should see a line of cyan, magenta, and yellow on the paper towel.

8) Replace the cartridge in the printer and print a test page

My Epson Compatible Cartridge Does Not Work What do I do?

Sometimes a brand Epson compatible cartridge may appear to not be working properly. One option you can try is to check the vent grooves. The vent grooves that connect to one or more chambers (color tanks) may be blocked by adhesive. The tear away seal may have left adhesive or the name plate sticker may have blocked a vent groove. If air can't get into the cartridge chambers, the ink can not flow. A solution to this problem is a pin. Use the pin to penetrate the name plate foil and allow air to flow into the cartridge. If you run your finger nail along the foil, you will see that there is a hole under the foil for each chamber. This is where the pin should be stuck through the foil. After creating the pin holes in for chamber, run the cleaning cycle a few times to create even ink flow.

My inkjet cartridge doesn’t print What do I do now?

80% of all printer problems can be fixed yourself, without having to return your cartridge to where you purchased it. Some of the most common problems can be fixed as follows:

1) Make sure that the sticker on the top of the cartridge has been removed. This allows the cartridge access to an air supply. Without an air supply, the cartridge will not work.

2) Running your printhead cleaning utility will usually alleviate many common printing problems.

3) Cleaning the printheads can also help with many problems. To do this, gently rub a pencil eraser over the electronic contacts and then wipe clean with a dry tissue.

My print is significantly lighter than normal, Is My Inkjet Cartridge Wearing Out?

One sign that your cartridge may be close to empty is the appearance of significantly lighter than normal print. Here are some common things that can be done to fix a print problem:

Will the warranty on my office equipment be voided if I use a remanufactured cartridges?

No, Because of the MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT (United States Code Annotated, Title 15 Commerce and Trade, Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties, Section 2302) it is stated that a manufacturer cannot threaten to void a warranty because their own brand of cartridge is not used. As long as the cartridge used is designed for your printer/copier, the warranty will not be affected.
